I saw these at BicycleExpo in 92 ( for the 93 year ) and around the corner another company was selling identically framed bikes ( some company I had never heard of I seem to remember ) the MF chaps were unaware and not happy when they found out. You could get steel or alu framed bikes up to fairly steep prices. I seem to remember they started at 399 - the one in the pic in fact.
MBUK tested the dark red alu bike and were deeply unimpressed. I'd love to have a go on one though.

I've just picked up a 1994 model, frame very similar but has a dropped top tube.
Can't read any markings on my seatpost but it appears to measure 29.4 or 29.6mm
