That is mega so they are 31.4. I think maybe mines probably had a larger 31.6 forced in inserted perhaps in its past. or just a alot of seatpost hanging out the frame being a smaller frame and it’s made the hole enlarged overtime maybe ? my 31.4 seatpost just drops down with ease a loose fit all the way down with a 31.4 To be honest I’ve used some coke can to shim it up to reduce the diameter that is about 3 inches down past the stays inside and that has really worked very really well …
Man is yours also a looser fit like mine or a snug fit ..That’s why it made me think these maybe these indian fir trails mite be a 31.6 …lol I think it is probably just old age and it’s got worn joints. This things seen some action lol
Yes it is actually quite a loose fit, maybe a characteristic of these frames? There’s enough give in the metal to clamp it and hold it in place without issue.
So just built up this mix matched this seatpost skewer from different parts up really quick to see what it looks like on the Marin. And I’ve gotta say I really like this lol
there is a complete Purple Ringle QR Skewer coming in the pipeline but this one will do for now this will do

Small update and Some small progress on the Marin over the weekend after finding these Venhill titanium derailleur adjustment screws. So that has kept me busy..I think it’s soon time for some full build photos once the weather pics up
Small updates to complete the Marin. I have finally found some all black Panaracer dart sand smoke classic tyres and some purple SRP Goodies. Once this bikes built it’ll be a rider and maybe race bike that mite be dependable down the line. Pics coming soon of small parts updates
Just found the thread, my cracked Marin had a USE seatpost with USE shim.
Was blue but should really be stripped of the anodizing.
