1993 Lotus Sport Monocoque

Re:

I had a mate of mine who i worked with at the time, make up some gold Easton waterslide decals for the bars, but they are placed either side of the stem - would look ace under the grips. Looking forward to seeing your ideas come to fruition

Re:

So there's been a bit of a hiatus on the Lotus build where real life has taken over for a bit, family holidays, work conferences, garden projects, man cave reorganisation, buying a Porsche (bike) [You'll have to wait and see :D ] and waiting for the titanium cassette to arrive from the states....so

Comparing the titanium 12-25 with the steel 11-30

The range is a bit limited so by using the 30T steel and omitting the 19T titanium we get this

There's a bit of a jump from 25 to 30. What do you think. They will be nitride of course and I will always be on the lookout for larger titanium cogs. It's a compromise for now but I can live with it.

The other option is to get a CS-M900 type P cassette (the early one where it looks like the top four steel cogs unbolt from the alloy spider) use just the spider and get a CS-M950 (with titanium top 4 cogs but riveted to the spider) detach them and hope they have the same bolt holes as the CS-M900 so I can have an all titanium gold cassette with alloy spider (which may melt if nitrided), as I can use my existing smaller sprockets? Sounds like a lot of work and a risk it won't line up but hey ho we are in fantasy land after all.

Intrested to see if the nitride gives the same "tone" on the two materials.....how long is the turn around?

Re:

They usually do it within a week. As there is a minimum price per job I am going to send all the cogs but was thinking of waiting and sending an M900 as well

Re:

I got a ti 950 cassette from someone one here, but the front few rings were wrong so I returned it, I'll have a dig & see if I can find what size & who it was.

I’m in awe of the man cave !
My wife's just about to get a very nice greenhouse so I earned a few brownie points and finally did a bit of garage reorganisation. Still need some more sockets and lights putting in but to have stuff in drawers and not in plastic boxes is bliss :D

Re:

Just bought an M950 cassette and the rivets would be too hard to get out and replace and only the top 3 sprockets are titanium so back to the original plan.

In the meantime the rear wheel bearings needed replacement. As spinergys are a bit different to your average wheel I wasn't confident touching them, so took the Lotus on a little trip to see my riding buddy Neil who is head mechanic at The Yorkshire Cycle Hub in Great Fryup Dale (yes it really is called that). Que some gratuitous bike shots....

The rear wheel runs as smooth as a baby's bum now but has made me realise the front bearings probably are on there way out

So the sprockets will be going to the nitriders soon and I can finally get this build finished

Re:

Looks awesome mate, think you made the right call on the wheels they look spot on although I would have liked to have seen my spin on it.
