1993 Kona Cinder Cone

Thought I'd start a build thread for this 1993 Kona Cinder Cone I've recently acquired. This is my first Kona and I'm really looking forward to building and riding it.

I'll try to keep it as original as possible but I want to ride it so the tyres, saddle and grips will be new but retro inspired if possible.

The frame is in pretty good condition. There are some scrapes and a few rust spots but they just add to it's charm. I love the Green/Grey fade.

I've gone with Schwalbe Rocket Ron folding tyres because they were a good price and options for 26 inch tyres in 2.1 or below are getting limited. I did consider skin wall Smoke/Dart but they're expensive and I fancied a change. The catalogue spec has black wall tyres so hopefully I get away with it

I just really wish companies would chill out with the MASSIVE logos on modern tires. Or at least add a dash of color, or some playful, retro graphic design.

Those Cindercones are lovely frames to ride. I had exactly the same frame - smooth light with quite the right amount of snap.
