1993 Brodie Catalyst

True, but maybe the bar isnt that leveld either? But its the same bar you had in the velocity stem, and that was ok?

The right thing to do is to send it back. We shouldn´t even be talking about it. Is it a good situation? No but that´s the price of admission to custom jobs. Brodie is a well respected name. Sending it back is keeping the name intact.

I‘ll be sending the stem back to Paul.

On another note these hubs popped up and were duly secured. In case the XTR hubs need to be replaced.

Can anybody tell me whether the freehub body needs to be this 'floaty'?
Or is there a spacer missing? Bearings were likely changed not too long ago.

Edit:
Mystery solved. The driveside end cap was not screwed on fully.

..patiently awaiting another but very different new stem.

I kind of like American (ABM) stems a lot. Not sure they would go in this build though. Perhaps a purple anodised but still.

I had one at some point, I think. Aren't they called Velocirapter or sth? Really nice stems. Sold it unfortunately. I would not like a welded aluminium stem on this bike, though. Also all of the ones I saw were for 1" steerers...
