1992 Specialized Stumpjumper - Finished!

Tioga T-Bone stem ordered from RB member (no pic yet) and a Specialized saddle sorted:

Thought I'd tot up the numbers for the build as I'd thought I'd done quite well... Came back at a bit higher than I thought, with the expense of the powdercoating still to come. But still, I'm sure it'll be worth it when riding it on some dusty singletrack in summer.

Bits left to buy:
* Headset
* Chain
* Cables

Specialized Stumpjumper

:D Think this is going to be a beautiful build Earl, Im doing my first build a Specialized S-Works FSR 1995 frame.

Specialized are really beautiful peices of art. I bet your dead chuffed Earl, well done, not enough credit goes to brave newbies attempting there first build.

Thanks for the comments.

Agree with the saddle comment. I want a Flite one, but they fetch too much money (in my opinion) for what they are. I can remember shops selling them off at £25 new, so begrudge paying much more for a second hand one. I'll keep my eyes peeled, I can always change it.

Tires - Will dig out the receipt when I get back to the UK and post a link. Maybe try googling the name and see what comes up?

Land back in the UK tomorrow from my hols (ash cloud permitting!) and hope to drop the frame off to be blasted on Tuesday. Then the real progress will start!

Fitted the handlebar and bar ends to my work bike as I didn't think they'd suit the build. So will have to add them to my list of things still to buy. I think once the frame is blasted and painted then momentum will pick up :)

Got a few bits sorted now I'm back off my hols.

Campag 1" headset will soon be on it's way, as is a 1" x 135mm silver 92 Specialized stem. Just about to order a chain from CRC, then (I think) there is only a couple of bits left to sort:

* Handlebar - Plain black
* Grips - Modern Specialized ones with a touch of Red to them
* Bar Ends - Modern Specialized in Black

Not yet dropped the frame off to be powdercoated, but hopefully any day now ;)

Ah, how random. I still have the old headset, so might just have to put some new bearings in it and see how it goes. Will have to get some calipers to measure the crown race and see which it is.

Bit late for the milling...Mr.Powdercoater has everything now.

A set of grips, cables and brake pads are the only things left on to the 'to buy' list now. Frame should be back from powdercoating by the end of the first week June. Then I might treat myself to a day off work to put it all together and give it a first run out.

Grips - Done!

Gone for some Black (with Grey S logo and ends) Specialized Sidewinder grips. Subtle, but comfy and I think it'll be a nice touch to have the 'S' logo on them.
