I think the '93 Altitude was standard spec 27.2, right? The '92 Blizzard is 27.0.

I went to the dark side and picked up a 2008 Blizzard, the last year of the 853 tubing. I bought a NOS XT 27.00 seatpost only discover the newer Blizzards use a 26.8. I had not thought of reaming it out.
I take it the loss of the .02 of metal does not compromise the integrity?

My 92 vertex was spec 27.0 but was reamed to 27.2

They were all spec 27.0 but could have easily been reamed out to 27.2... My 96 blizzard had previously been reamed out from 27.0 to 27.2...

nope, catalogues state 27.2 for the 1993 Altitude, and the rest of the lower steel frames to 26.8mm. Only the Stratos and Blizzard kept with 27.0mm that year. Seems 1993 was the year RM moved away from using 27.0mm for the majority of their line-up.

Your 1996 was spec'd with a 26.8mm, with 27.2mm for 93 & 94 models. I have a 27.0mm in my 95. :facepalm:

Now I'm not sure if I should be using a 27.0mm for my Thunderbolt. Maybe it should be 27.2mm??? :? No details in the catalogues.

the Ti Syncros 27.0mm i'm currently using seems to be fine though.
