A period-correct saddle/seat post would finish it off. I'd say.

What is the cut off year between good ol mongoose & new mongoose... there is a local to me mongoose a40s that looks old but has low end parts.

I would have to agree with changing the seatpost and saddle though.

Seatpost maybe but Red label Flite fits the build and period correct

thanks for the compliments. Flite is indeed the correct one. Original seatpost was changed under warranty by syncros in the nineties after it cracked for this one
