6 months later, I’m pleased with this one. rebuilding the forks was a chore—threads on the first steerer I had were chewed up, and getting the original elastomers out was an adventure. but everything works, and it‘s a fun little (maybe a little too small) bike. I plan on riding this one a lot over the summer so it will probably change, but for now it’s “done.”

thanks! Rode it yesterday and overall, responsive and chuckable--easy to get off the ground. It was super wet and I wasn't all that confident cornering at speed, so looking forward to getting out again. the suspension benefits are negligible, of course.

I'll keep you top of mind re the accutrax. the short, 1" steerer limits it's usefulness but I know the day I get rid of it is the day an old FRO winds up on craigslist.

That is really cool! I have one just like this waiting to be built (it's the yellow-orange paint version) but otherwise just the same. No handjob either. I plan on making this an all-steel build. Sweet wings cranks, sweet parts stem, true temper bars, Zoom steel seatpost, 1st gen AMP fork (steel legs), basically as much high end steel parts as possible.

That’s a fitting theme for an nice old steel frame and I don’t think you’ll suffer much weight gain given the parts you’ve listed

The frame itself is not exactly light (compared to a Ritchey for example) but the bike should turn out reasonably light.

Yeah, it’s not a p21 although their catalog from ‘92 (in the archives here) touts low weights. I have no idea where mine sits on the scales but I’d guess in the range of 24.5? I’ll get it on a bathroom scale one of these days to get a rough idea.
