1992 Ibis Mojo

Just received this 1992 Ibis Mojo in the mail and I’m looking forward to the build! I’ve started collecting parts—plan is to keep it true to ‘92/‘93.

I think when these were first rolled out, it was with the manitou 1 and rs mag 20 in mind—from the info I’ve seen (on the scans in the archive) they came in two stock colors, a “bold gold” and this gray, presumably with those two forks in mind.

I have a nice Accutrax fork with a steerer that will fit this very short head tube and that will go on to start, but plan on eventually replacing that with a m1 or 2 once I’ve found one and can get it ride-able.

Is that the handjob there?

No. That´s the first generation mojo: no handjob and no hooded drop outs. That´s a nice cable hanger there were no hand jobs yet.

They were made for early suspension but not necessarily manitou or RS. It´s a high end frame and any build would fit.

Re:

Yep, the cable hanger on this one is far more chaste. Paint is original and in great shape. Going to use this ibis ti stem, which is 130mm with a slight rise.

That stem is gorgeous......frame isn't bad either ;)

Re:

It will definitely be ridden off-road! It’s small (15.5 ctc) but it will work for me.

Long way to go but I’m gathering parts.

Ibis has some of the best handling out there. Hint: leave handlebars a bit higher than what you are used on other mtn bikes.

Re:

Made a lot of progress on this and I’m pleased with how it’s coming along. I have a ti post that I’ll swap out for this aluminum number, need some new brake hardware to sort the rear cantis. Then it’s grips, chain and cables. And maybe a suspension fork?
