yes although it doesn't correspond to the owners address currently - although the bike shop it was purchased from originally was in Wetherby so it may have been that of the bike shop that is no longer, as that postcode doesn't correspond to anything any more

That postcode was discontinued in December 1992 according to Royal Mail, they did that a lot at this time unfortunately...

Was probably quite a broad postal code which was split into many smaller ones after 1992

Looks like a great frame and project.

I've always liked the look of Shogun bikes but never had one. This thread inspired me to look into the history and frame number info available online. Sharing in case useful to anyone:

I sourced a period correct Deore DX Group, seems appropriate for this class of bike which would not have been fitted with XT or anything fancy.
Plenty of life left in this set, though it needs some cleaning and minor maintenance while the frame is away.

Today I collected the frameset back from Cyclone who have worked their usual magic, I just had to add decals BB and headset :








Quite a transformation - plenty of work ahead but the frameset is effectively like new and fit for another 30+ years

pausing while I work on another build - I tried to keep this one as near to 1991 as possible - but surrogate front mech needed as I couldn't find a top pull Deore DX.

Ok here goes for final configuration - rationale = frameset is now pristine and new - so decided to replace all the potentially worn and unreliable parts with brand new/ NOS everything throughout - with a view to selling as a restomod with reliable components for everyday use but still with retro look and feel...

...









This project has had too much input already probably but I think the end result should last for another 30 years or so ...

Yes some shifters are an acquired taste. However choice is limited when you need 3x7 ( and 3x8 ). These new shimanos are actually very smooth in use, if ugly. Having one lever underneath and one on top is a bit unfamiliar but works aok in practice. I wish they would separate the shifter from the brake lever with separate clamps, then people could place them where they wished. Ho hum the brief here was all new parts and everything works very well, I have to grudgingly admit , i.e. much better to live with than worn out vintage parts that look better but don't actually work very well and probably never did to be honest.
