The Rotary brake works actually great here. The roller design with the cable pull makes it great, especially the the SLR plus levers.

I do like the rotary and have it on a couple bikes, but in the end a roller or toggle cam are nicer IMO. Still your setup complements the frame. Still don’t like the angle on the brake cable but I guess there isn’t much you can do.

I quite agree - I think. I have a set of black grease guard hubs as well that I are going to build up soon. Might do black rims yes.

Long time and no progress - and then bom! Finished.

I finally found some great rims to fit to the black WTB Classic grease guard hubs - the Araya RM-14 in silver. The narrow racing rims are suited for this classic steel hard tail - in my eyes the ultimate retro bike and the bike I would choose if I had to own only one bike.
