1991 Cannondale SM800 rider good luck fair play it's not my cup of tequila I'm trying to buy this Klein but the guy won't reply content

Fairly easily I recall.

Sometimes they can be stuck tight and use of a breaker bar can help.

some penetrating fluid could also be an idea.

Just make sure you are cranking it the correct direction for the thread and you should be all good.

And I think the non-drive side should come out first? (An actual pro mechanic could chime in here with answers!)
aye so could Dr Bruce Banner - if he lived next door!

Lots of progress this week. :)

Cantilevers are on and stopping!
I ran with some DX brakes XT levers, some used cables and outers and a fresh straddle cable for the from

Picked up the spacers I needed today, along with a mismatched pair of clean QR's.
All that's left for me to do is add a chain and I should be able to go for a roll around the block.

For such a massive frame it is proving to be lightweight enough to manage...

They are about as thin as a Coke can in some area's

If you are finding the frame big now, wait till you straddle it fully built, that BB height is deceiving.

Power on with the build @jonnymcenroe

Am on it, Stephan!
I do need to nip back outside in this breeze again so won't be doing much tonight.

Threw a leg over earlier and I do see what you mean. Seatpost does need raising and saddle pushed a tad back.

QR's although minty just don't work with the overall look and colours.

Back to the drawing board and hunt for polished aluminum QR's or some period chrome ones.

Start point was only seven days ago and I was hoping to be near finished by today.

I kinda am!

They would work in the mean time until you can source what your looking for though. (I may have some old chrome ones, I will check tomorrow)

@jonnymcenroe sorry cant locate the old QR's am sure I have some old Chrome SR Suntour ones, they may be in a box in another location, am sure I have some, they were from the original Raleigh Montage wheels, I will find them. How is the build coming along?

Hey thanks for that offer, it really isn't necessary, as I do have a lot of parts here.

Building this bike out of spares entirely.
Has only cost me £5 for spacers thus far.
I am reusing old cables, old bolts and whatever I can find.

It's coming along well, having a beer and considering attaching the chain this evening.
I left this until last as I'm totally unsure of how to size it up. I've not fitted a SS chain before.
unsure where to start!

Asides that and some fresh bolts and adjustments it is near done.

New pads are on canti's are on and dialled in. headset tightened bars and levers on, grips need hairspray once finalised.

Swapped out the seat clamp for a fresh black one attached some fresh black anodised boss bolts for the bottle mounts.

hoping to leave the chainring on the outside of the crank although it'd probably be best inboard on the middle. May just have enough clearance from the stay to run it where it is.

Cut the chain the size you think it may require, add or remove a link, if its too tight or too slack:

A half link chain connector may be your answer, just make sure the half link is suitable for the chain you have on.

If a full link or half link does not work out with the scope you have you may need to fit a Single Speed Chain Tensioner, am sure you know this. Hope your just about finished the build now?
