1990 R.M.O. Gitane FINISHED! 9th May

Re:

Hi Adrian,

It's a 13-23, fine for the flatlands of the south coast buddy!

Just been uploading more pics I took today, here they are.

Just for a quick mock-up. Seatpost won't be staying, too short

Re:

Really looking great fella

Not much more to add than that. Love it.

Forgot to add last time but I'm a massive fan of the roller/needle bearings on the rear mech. Classy to the extreme

Re:

I am SO pleased I didn't buy the Gitane frame on ebay.... I mean, how do you compete with a build like that.

Nice work Mike, right up to your usual standard.

Re:

Thanks chaps, but it is only half way there!

The next dilemma, I have some yellow and black Vittoria CX tyres. Too new? They are more golden yellow than the decals.
Or hold out for some Michelin tanwalls? :?

Re:

Nice build, this is mine, im stripping it for my Battaglin.. Or should I not? This is Slx and I believe to be an RMO team bike.

Re:

That looks like a proper bike, used!
What does the Battaglin look like?

Re:

Like this, nice but wrong! The components are not right for a 1987 frame and the Gitane has the right bits for the battaglin. The Gitane has a number boss and is potentially fantastic but lack of interest in it makes me want to strip it and either paint it in Fignon colours or transfer the components to the very pretty Battaglin, I sold one here in 4h back in January and at the end of the day i need to move a few bikes on.

Re:

Fignon colours? Not sure I know those :? I can see why you would want to get that horrible stuff off the Battaglin! Stick the components up for sale on here.
You can get some funds to rebuild the Gitane, then we can do a nice two-up time trial!

Re: 1990 Gitane, updated 4th April

Nice idea Mike, im fat old and crippled now, well for a 42 year old, I am. The Battaglin is partially stripped and the wheels have gone. The transformation was going to involve a Ciocc being stripped of its Victory, but its too pretty to do that. She too must go all 66 cm of glorious slx, and i may build up the Gitane as a mid 80s in Blue with yellow seat and tape with Super Record.
