WOW! What a special frame and pristine build. Feels more like a museum piece than a bike!

Prefer the tan walls to black tyres as they compliment the gold IMO by bringing in an element of colour/tone.

Hey Jourian:

I was just talking about these bikes tonight! I can confirm your details about the original owner. Wilhelm Grieb of Montgomery Cyclery bought #1, 2, and 3. #1 was Willy's, #2 was his wife's and #3 was his son's. I worked at Montgomery Cyclery from 1989-1992 and was there to see the unboxing and building of these bikes. #1 was hung from the ceiling in the middle of the showroom floor. (I'm not sure if it's still there.)

Wilhelm Grieb of Montgomery Cyclery.

Montgomery Cyclery is near Cincinnati, Ohio. Willie was from Germany, he probably brought that bike back overseas at some point. Sorry, I left those details out.

@TampaStag thank you for the confirmation of the background story! I didn't know about the #3 and also didn't know the name of bike shop. Can you share the address of the bike shop?

Now #2 is also hanging on the wall above my desk .
