1990 Miyata Century

This model has been gathering dust in the attic for a while now. A Miyata Century (1990) with 14k gold plated lugs. Of course, it's absurd to use gold on a mountainbike, but it does look cool imo. The model, as in the 1990 Miyata catalog, was released to celebrate Miyata's 100th anniversary. Apparently, 100 models were made. The sticker on the top tube supports this rumor. So far, I haven't been able to find any official production numbers.

I came across the bike about 8 or 9 months ago on a German website in the condition shown in the photos below. The location was a 5-hour drive from my home. For Dutch standards, that's a long trip. Nevertheless, I contacted the seller. He turned out to be a very friendly guy who took the time to make and sent extra photos and answer my flood of questions. After a relatively short exchange of messages, we quickly reached a deal. A few weeks later, during a "holiday weekend" in Frankfurt, after a coffee with the seller, the frame was in the back of the car.

The seller mentioned that the bike was "made" for the wife of a Miyata dealer (W. Grieb) in Cincinnati, Ohio. The initials on the top tube refer to his wife. W. Grieb naturally had a bike with "01 out of 100". I tried to verify this, but unfortunately without success. Apart from a few minor scratches, the bike is in excellent condition. The components that were still on the bike are as listed in the catalog, with the Trimble RooBar being the highlight.

Built plan below. All parts are in about 9/10 condition (some NOS) similar to the frame.
I am still undecided on the cranks and wheelset.

Some highlights are:
- Tange Switchblade forks
- Trimble Roo bars
- NOS perforated leather San Marco saddle
- NOS M737 SPD's with titanium spindles
- Black XT hubs (if decided on this wheelset ;))

Oh!!!
It's the bike of my dreams. I love Miyata, this one in particular.
I have been looking for one for ages
I never saw an ad on Ebay despite having the search set a decade ago.
Congratulations, it's going to be spectacular
Meanwhile, I'm looking to see if I can get a '93 Sky Runner, but after seeing yours none of them seem good enough to me.
