Good match. If any frame should be ok with golden parts, it would be this one.

Gut says no 3 would be preferable for me, but would need to see it to be certain.

Silver hub works well with the silver crown for me.

I love a tan wall
But out of these options I actually like option 1, aesthetically the black Smokes really allow the gold contrasts to shine. RM17s and RM20's are my two favourite rims from this period, can't go wrong with either!

So many options, so many preferences ;-). I haven't decided yet which wheelset to use. I'm leaning towards the tan wall with black XT hubs. I've decided to go with the black Shimano M730 cranks instead of the Cook Bros Racing RS cranks to be more period correct. I'll post some extra pics to show te differences in wheelsets on a more finished bike later.
