Nice, great riding frames the older Marins.

I have a set of MT60 crank arms you can have if you want them, used but should polish up well.

Thanks! I loved the zolatone marins when I was a teenager but could never afford one. Cranks sound interesting, how much would you like for them?

Just postage will be fine, last time i looked it was about £4

Just regreased the wheel bearings, first time ever for me and the wheels by the look of the mud/grease that came out!

Marin Ti saddle is on its way, just need to sort out the chain, gear cable & pedals and it’s good for a ride. Oh and a new seat qr/bolt before too long, that tranz x one doesn’t quite go!

Wait, is it... a 105SC crank? Matches the rest nicely.
How long BB does it need for this use, longer than the recommended 113mm?

Hi, thanks, yes that’s right, it’s a 105 crank with 42t ring that’ll probably end up on the inner mount. I can’t remember what length the bb is, I’ll find out whether it’s any good when I put a chain on and have a play.. I’ll post up here if you’re interested

Yep, I am really surprised how it goes together with the rear mech, shape and colour-wise.
The reason I asked... I have done this in the past on an e-stay bike with italian BB, so I had to put there only ITA BB lying around and the Exage road chainset turned out to be perfect match. And later I never checked, how long was the axle and what would potentially be best length for 1x7/8 chainline with road crankset. Assume it would be about the same for all the common 7sp cranks, as they all needed same BB length (not that sure about the 8sp versions). Well, if you happened to know it, I'm interested just in case I would ever need to combine these parts again, but definitely no need to remove the crankset to measure haha.
Hopefully it will work nicely, without chain falling off the chainring - should be fine.

The 2.35” schwalbe fat frank cruiser tyres arrived today to mix things up a little - super fat! I was surprised they fit in the frame/fork, although I did have to remove the brakes to get them in so the wheels are no longer quick release!

Oh and I got a Marin lite saddle on there too

Nice 40km ride up the valley, the light makes the forks and stem look a little more red than the orange they are..
