Like i said in my welcome post i bought this bike in 1991 from my brother in law. He got it from a Marin Shop in Italy during his holidays at Lago di Garda in 1990.
At that time all my friends were into mountain biking. I remember them to drive brands like Fat Chance, Juchem, Cannondale and GT. No one i knew back in these days drove a Marin which made it automatically very special to me.
I've seen a lot of Marins until today but i never saw a second one with my colour scheme. I know there must be at least thousands of them but no single one ever passed me by.
My Eldridge Grade was my first and is my only bike. (<-Now there is a second bike, thanks retrobike.com )
I remember working at a grocery store for about a whole winter and half of the following summer to get the money together to buy me all these parts i needed so badly to make this heavy thing lighter, to have something i built on my own or just to keep up with my friends..whatever.
So 19 years later this bike is still around. It drives me to the beergarden and to the basketball gym and if i race it's a race between me and my dog. Therefore my bike has some Schwalbe Marathons instead of some fancy Panaracer Smoke and Dart tyres.
My last flea market visit brought me home a Look Racing carbon handlebar but more importantly my again awaken interest in this bike theatrics. In no way my bike is being kept original besides a LX front mech and one original DX/Wolber AT18 wheel.
After all my bike is kind of retro because the newest parts are from 1993.
