That was the question I was going to ask as well Roy. It looks almost if not identical. Proper lovely.

It is and there are a lot that did it too.

Obviously they chose a different fork option but there was a call Here for sure, to be seen with a Ti for the flagship model. I was always amazed with the Ridgeback for the choice of Carbon parts too. Back then that was So COOL, Ti and Carbon

I agree, mixing the two materials is next level cool and was ahead of it's time when you think about it.

Cool to see once again, for me this titanium version frame will forever be etched in my memory from those ‘Freewheel’ (Madison) approx 1988/1989/90 era. Catalouge pages....starting with a some basic steel (Tange) bikes ( Ridgeback range, vaious numbers / groupsets / cool spattery paint effects ) then the titanium model.😳...and over the page the Kestrel e stay was there too ! (not a Ridgeback model)

My impression at the time , was Merlin Metalworks ‘re-stickered’ (re-branded)?
Cool to this such a bike again. Thanks for postin!

Lovely to see it again and especially out and about in the sun, a truly great bike and glad it’s still loved 😎👌

Good to see this thread back again!
Always admired this bike....the ultimate Ridgeback!
I own a 704XT - the model below the pecking order on this one, but this truly is THE mythical beast from the 89/90 era of Freewheel Catalogues. The stuff of dreams!

Just added a scan of the '89 Dream Machines article from MBUK here....

Great to see your one.

Cheers

That really is simply stunning. I, like many others I'm sure, spent ages looking at these in the brochure wishing I could afford one!
