1990 Kona Titanium - FINISHED PAGE 13

Re:

Many thanks for all the nice comments. I owe several people thanks for helping out with this one either for selling me their hard to find parts, providing information and for generous karma of their precious time and skills. You all know who you are :)

I took it out on it's first ride last night and it seems that my attention to detail was lacking in one particular area as the stem wasn't tight enough for me to properly put it through it's paces  I was fortunate enough to get the stem length spot on although perhaps a little more rise would be better. Part of me wanted to swap out the Maximum/Reaction tyres before riding it but I had to take it out at least once in it's catalogue spec guise. This is my first titanium bike and I have to say I was extremely impressed by how zingy and responsive it felt under me - in the hands of a fitter rider it would be a total trail weapon!! I could feel it surging forward with each pedal stroke and it was surefooted on the steep rocky climbs that make up a large part of Cornwall's coastal paths. Due to the aforementioned stem issue I didn't push it as hard as I could but to say that I was impressed with it would be an understatement :D

That is gorgeous!

Thanks mate :)

To be honest, last nights ride was a little bitter sweet. I was taking some pics of the bike and was admiring, amongst other things, the great job that Martin (aka Bryncrug72) had made of refinishing the Brodie brake booster. When I got back home I logged on to find that Martin had sadly passed away on Saturday evening :(

Re:

That's pretty special - super work Adrian.

You've got some balls riding it with the double toe straps on those west penwith cliff paths!!

That bike is absolutely stunning. I have mentioned it before but you have to know I am so jealous at your surroundings. Oh and that comment from you about the logo's and valves and how the tires were mounted in de catalogue is taking nerdiness to a whole new level ;)

nice to see you get this bad boy dirty. i'd say yes to seeing a little more rise in the cockpit since you should be able to raise the stem up.

Thanks Adrian, come have a go on it next time you're in Newbridge. The SPD's will be on for regular use I think :D

Thanks Casper, give me a shout next time you're in the UK and come and see west Penwith for yourself :)

I prefer 'attention to detail' but nerdiness works too

Thanks Frank - not sure how much quill I have left due to previous steerer issues!!
