1990 Kona Titanium - FINISHED PAGE 13

Re: 1990 Kona Titanium - Merlin Mountain content

I have nothing other than a rag and some metal polish to get things looking shiny so a big thanks to Bryncrug72 for doing a sterling job on the booster for the u-brake with his polishing wheel - thanks mate :D

OK you got me Frank

Seriously though I'm not sure that I could have ever got it looking that good by hand. The scratches have all been taken out of it and it looks like a mirror

Re: 1990 Kona Titanium - Merlin Mountain content

Minor progress; Joe's Clips fitted to XT M731 (Comp) pedals..................................................now I remember why I switched to SPD's!

Re: 1990 Kona Titanium - Merlin Mountain content

two straps??? isn't that over-kill???

honestly, if i'm running flat pedals, i'd forego clips/straps. but that's me. ;)

Re:

So I've finally managed to finish this one off and I'm pretty please with the results. It's taken more than 14 months to complete since the frame arrived and many months prior to that sourcing the correct frame in the right size.

A little reminder of what I set out to achieve; since the frame was basically a Merlin Mountain in Kona livery, I felt that I had to get the parts list spot on. The only contentious points (I think) are the Joe's Clips, which are listed in the catalogue spec, but aren't what are shown in the catalogue image. The grips are not specified but I think the Tioga Biogrip II's suit the build and are period correct. The bars in the spec are Tange Prestige - I opted for the Tioga version. The booster on the u-brake is in the catalogue spec as the XT version but I chose a Brodie booster based on my assumption from the catalogue image.

Just my amateurish effort with MS Paint whilst the photo's upload......
