How could I have missed this one?

I never knew such a bike existed... This thread ate my lunchbreak ;)

After spending way more time than is natural looking at an image of a bike I noticed the booster on the u-brake certainly wasn't a power plate from an M733. Given the company the Konas shared in the 1990 catalogue I figured it must be a Brodie booster. Probably not the easiest thing to track down but thankfully Roy was on hand to help out and release one from his Brodie stronghold ;) Unless I can track down another, it's destiny may lie elsewhere in the future.......

Great project Adrian

Is there any difference between a 1990 Merlin Mountain frame and the Kona Titanium frame, geometry wise?

Thanks Richard :)

From what little information I have been able to find out, Kona literally just bought 1990 Merlin Mountain frames and slapped some Kona decals on them! I'm assuming that Kona and Merlin had a good relationship at the time since Joe Murray had spec'd the geometry for the Merlin and had ridden them for several seasons with great success. They even seemed to use the same backdrop for their catalogue shots!

Re: 1990 Kona Titanium - Merlin Mountain content UPDATE PAGE

Another night shift for the wife means another night of bikes in the house for me :)

I brought the frameset and box of bits into the kitchen with a view to bolting it all together, leaving one last session to cable it up and carry out the final adjustments. Not for the first time on this build I was thwarted at a fairly early stage. One of the clamps on my XT thumbies has stripped threads. I had forgotten that this was a fairly common occurrence (for me anyway) with the M732's :(

I'm telling y'all it's sabotage!!

I did get this far though before getting too annoyed to continue.
