Yeah, I kinda like the stem that’s fitted. So I’ll try a black one, and if I like the black theme? I’ll blast and paint the body of the existing stem. Hay presto, black stem silver cap .
Thanks KOF, I’ve studied the pics and think I like the silver better myself. I guess it’s just a personal preference thing and everyone is going to have their own choice. No harm in that it’s what makes things interesting. Black looks better side on but silver looks better when you’re riding and looking down on the frame/stem. I’ll take a pic from a riders perspective.
Riders view, and the cranks from another angle. I think they suit the frame perfectly too. Love the way they seem to mirror the chain stays. Oh and I know it could do with another polish .
Just a quick update, fitted a blue seatpost binder and a perforated flite. Many thanks to Sandor (Romanrinos) for selling me the saddle, I’d wanted one for ages for this build. I’m gonna call this build “finished” . Fingers crossed I can get out and about on it this summer. I’m getting to the point where I need to start rotating the bikes so they all get an outing. Seems like I’m going through a Kona phase just now as that’s all I seem to ride.
Well, I used the “finished” word but you all know the score . I’ve been looking for a White Industries rear hub since I bought the Fuchs. I wanted one to match the front hub and crankset. Many thanks to @bhill22 for selling me one . It came in a set of wheels and arrived today. Quickly unwrapped, stripped from the rim and given a once over with a rag. Fingers crossed I’ll get it installed this weekend. I’ll need to spin the NDS spacer down on the lathe as at the moment it’s set up as a 135 and my frames 130. Shouldn’t be an issue, I’ll spin up a 5mm spacer at the same time so I can return it to 135 in the future if required? I need to spin up a 4mm spacer for the 7sp cassette as well so I’m gonna be busy
A little over an hour at the lathe today and I now have a 135, 8sp hub with a 130, 7sp conversion kit . Had to make the adapter from brass as I didn’t have any aluminium to hand. It will do for now but I’ll pick up some aluminium bar and spin up a replacement soon. It just means I can get on with building the wheel now
Managed to get the rear wheel stripped and rebuilt tonight. Fits a treat with the new spacer. Bike just needs a polish then I’ll get a couple of pics up. Few upgrades since the last full pics of the bike.
