Also just to answer your other questions.
If i had to buy the thumbies, cassette and front mech judging by the condition of them it would have added another £80 or so so i probably wouldnt have done it, at least not with xt bits. I probably would have put some more modern bits on it or not bothered at all as I have now broken the laws of retrobiking physics when the amount of bikes is n+1 n=bikes in current ownership, I have 1 bike too many. the trek for commuting, the lts for rad dude off roading (read trying the suspension out in the trail centre car park) and now the fisher for... well I'm not sure really. leisurly rides along the trails? nah I've got a lts for that
