I'm still loving seeing this bike and i just never tire of seeing the splatter paint affect these frames have ;) ..

Cheers mate :D I'm one away from the full collection of seven, just need a 1990 Cindercone in 18" or 19" and i'll be a able to do a full group shot which should look pretty good :D

Re:

I'm a big fan of Kona bikes but generally of the mid nineties as that is when i got my '95 Kilauea. Still obviously like the earlier ones and i recently purchased a '91 Lava Dome as a commuter but this has made me really want one. That's a cracking looking machine and i think i actually like the incarnation with the black tyres the best. If its a 19" and comes up for sale in the future please keep me in mind ;)

Mmmm. Nice. I like the black tyres too, they keep all the focus on the lovely frame and forks. The splashback logos are a bit distracting (i have a set too - bargaintastic I must say).

How does it ride - been out much? Bet it goes like stink.

Now that's what i call being a true collector ;) and i always liked the sound of the Cindercone
name when i first heard it in 89 although given the money i'd of bought the Lava Dome or Exsplosif .

That colour blue has the same name as the paint on my car  ..

Would the collection include the Hei Hei (aka virtually impossible)? ;) Just get Raiden to lend you his for the full money shot.

It's a whippet, there's no weight in the bike (as i've built it) so when you get on the pedals it instantly reacts and just go's. The big thing for me was the handling, the front feels pinned and the back end likes to move around a little which i like. Surprising thing was when i done the back to back test with my 89 Explosif on the same short loop,in the space of one year you can feel the improvements, there both fast bikes but you can feel where Kona worked on the handling with the 90 bike to make it a good option for a race bike.

Tyres :) yes those splash backs draw your eyes to much to them but there just temporary. The black maximum and reaction tyres do look good but when standing in front of the bike it looks a little to dark. So as well as getting the nos XT seatpost i needed and changing the pedals to some original XT comp pedals,i'm going to pinch the nos tioga farmer John cousins off my 89 team Stumpjumper and put them on and hopefully that's it all done, unless i find some more nos XT parts

It would look good though wouldn't it,i think i'd have to take my collection down to Raiden though
