I feel you need to go either all Black, or all Silver, the black stem clashes with the silver headset/bars, All black would look the better I feel, a lot of early fans ran short cage mech's and a Campag road/mtb mix on these early ones, a nice Black pair of Centaur mech's would look ace and save some weight.

Agree and think it'll be going all black. The headset was on it when it arrived but will be going. Campag is always much dosh for me.

If you need a black headset, I have a NOS boxed Ritchey Logic all black for not very much dosh? (Only coz it would be off in an Orange ) I can also source some lovely new shiny gloss Black Aluminium bars, with no logo, which are very light too, again cheap.

Small update on this as I had an hour to spare this aft. I'd toyed with the idea of using some of the parts on a modern Clockwork build but couldn't make old + new kit work well enough together so went modern on the 2007 Clockwork which in turn gave this one all the Deore kit back.

Still don't know what colour seat post and bar to go for :? Defo keeping the new silver stem as it's period correct, Orange branded and has a decent rise but am tempted to go black on the seat post and bar. I have a black headset ready to replace the silver so it should work.... Right?

Still struggling with this build tbh as I have little time atm and this just isn't pulling me in to the garage to tinker with. I need to get my retro mojo back ASAP. Still toying with the idea of collecting a Clockwork from each era (Thinking 1989, 1992, 1995 c16, 1998, 2007, current 29er) and that's what's probably keeping this in my garage. We'll see. :roll:

That's coming together - mine orange / white 89 is still a pile of bits as i'm rushed off my feet with work - what's your plan for tyres?
