Sooo... update... need some help here with these rollercam brakes... I'm working on deciding how to build up these wheels... the rear looks like the hoop width is good but the front looks like either wider hoop or a wider mustache plate... I want both hoops to be the same obviously... it's either these ones here in the picture or a set of super wide mavic ceramics... Any ideas? does anybody have any spare mustache plates I can experiment with? thx!!
Oh, and I'm not using that stem... it's just there to hold the fork in place
I use classic 517 ceramic rims with modern specific ceramic pads. You can only adjust the pads and keeping your actual mustache plates.
The only probrem is for removing the rear wheel…

I think we got the same mustache plate. The rollers need to be in the shorter and higher part of the triangle, as I did on mine. As you showed in your picture, it's the position when the cable is pulled…
Look on my 'dale:
Thanks! Question... When you pull your brakes tight to the rim where do the rollers sit on the plate? In the picture it looks like they are in the rest riding position.
The plate has to spread the roller.
As U brakes, (and on contrary of cantilevers) Roller cam are working like a pair of pliers
Like I have adjusted the plate, my brake is working quite soft and powerfull
On other hand, it's easy for removing the plate when I need to remove the wheels
Like you show, it's the end of the travel and it would be harder for braking
But I'mnot a roller cam specialist, and I needed long time for adjusting those brake like I want
On the Merlin, it's a 20mm mavic 517. I needed some longer stalk for the pads
On the 'dale, it's a very wide Sun rim, and the pads are first generation Mathauser
You have to adjust the pads before looking for a wider plate
Ok cool, I think with those rollers you have on the dale (same ones I have on my Merlin) super wide rims are required. I have super super wide Mavic ceramic hoops that I think I will have to use on my Merlin because of the roller cams I have. The other roller cams you have on your Merlin are newer so probably meant for narrower hoops. Thanks for all the help =)
