1989 Kona Explosif (1990 model year) Barn find.

Just picked this up… repainted in Paul Milnes colours as the seller and original owner was a sponsored rider for Freetown Cycles in Hull back in the day.

He has some pictures of him riding in the early 90s which he is going to send me.

Came with a mix of period Suntour, DX and Kona parts. No Track 2 fork sadly, the owner binned it back in the day as he thought it to heavy!

Serial number is T8911A other markings on the BB shell are 2869.

Anyone attempted a splatter resto on one of these?

Yes - very close serial numbers. Is there a link to your resto and how did you do the base black of the frame please?

Nice, be great to see some of the history as I have probably seen the bike before (no memory of it) with Freetown being a local hangout, though may be this was earlier than me.
I also declined a sponsorship style thing from them as, can't remember why, but teenagers canny be bothered sort of things. Vague memories.

Was a great shop though, much better before I moved into a larger space.
