$2,650 Buy It Now   http://cgi.ebay.com/1989-Klein-Rascal-M ... 712wt_1114

This bike was posted on Craigslist not that long ago for $400. See this thread: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... ascal+disk Either this is an extreme case of flipping or just a slightly delusional seller. Hard to understand how the seller can claim that the bike is "original" when the frame has clearly been modified for disk brakes. The eBay ad also references RetroBike and something about this particular bike being used in the 1990 Women's Downhill but I don't remember seeing anything here about that. :?:

I offered him $400 and got:

"Thank you for your offer but no thanks. Please review the history of Klein bikes and you may find that this bid is not appropriate or the condition and the rarity of the bike, but thanks for the interest."

Perhaps he thinks he somehow has Missy Giove's ex-team racing bike in his possession and has visions of Yeti C-26 dollar signs in his eyes. :D After he's paid several auctions' worth of eBay fees to relist the bike at sequentially lower prices, I bet he'll be kicking himself he didn't take your offer.

It's like the guy the Fisher ProCaliber who started at 4 grand or so and is now at $1,400---three listings later!

" I HAVE NEVER SEEN A RASCAL FROM 1991 IN SUCH FINE CONDITION."

Yeh... really original wallhanger.
Nice and smooth welds without paint

Ah...I missed that thread. Seller says he thinks it's a 1992, a board member says the women's DH was won with a 1990 and the eBay auction originally lists it as a 1989. From the paintwork (black/green), I'd have guessed it as a 1991 and it looks like the seller changed the auction to 1991.

:D  My favorite part: "PAINT AND DECALS ARE NEAR PERFECT. "
He REALLY believes this? At least he is right when he also says "PICS TELL ALL." I'm glad my eyes still work to see for myself what "near perfection" looks like. :D
