Yes, Paris-Gao-Dakar wheels, with a 7 speed 13-32 Sachs freewheel and Sachs-Sedis chain. All-French drivetrain!

Lookin' good Shamus.
Is that the seatpost you were looking for?
Or an IRD placeholder?

Haha, yeah I'm still on the hunt for a Mavic Mtn seatpost. This IRD will have to do, for now :)

Re:

It shifts great in my shop! I will have to see how it handles real conditions on the trail. I don't expect it to outperform Shimano, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the Mavic drivetrain so far.

Re:

Nice job.
I tried to built a full Mavic Fat Chance but mine is 1987 and Mavic didn't develop so much mtb parts. Mavic mtb crankset and shifters are around 1989- 90…
Just Mavic brakes are missing. The only part Mavic didn't make

I finally got organized and brought both Fats out to my local bike park last night (evening ride to beat the heat). Shootout ride MBA style: two Fats with similar setups on the same trail back to back comparison...

I took the Wicked out first. It was a great ride; it was stiffer than I expected and very responsive, very fun and I never felt out of control. I was a bit concerned that the retro tires my burst at any moment so that was a bit unnerving. And I usually ride SPD pedals, so that was a bit of a distraction. And I don't love the Grab On grips, though I think they have hardened over time; probably felt better when they were new. Other than those distractions it was a blast to ride; I cleaned some tricky sections and no crashes! Very good climber, decent descender. I would have to give the bike a very solid B+ grade :)

Yup. I feel it´s strength comes out when clearing technical sections; those wickeds feel planted! They just give you an xtra second before dabbing a foot and a bit more confidence when dropping steep sections. Weight distribution is very good and different from my other hardtail. Otoh at full speed ahead it feels like it may kick out of the trail. Also.. does not jump easily. It wants to stay glued on then ground. I wonder about placing a susp fork there but leave it alone.
