1988 Brodie Climbmax

Measuring tape shows 19" from BB center to top of seat tube and TT isn't even 23", it looks big due to the tall head tube but fits me as well as my Pinnacle.

I'll take a couple more measurements to confirm but if feels just right to me 👍

Just double checked the TT, I'm seeing 22.75" measire c-to-c horizontally. So 0.25" longer than my Pinnacle. All good for my taste.

Still, Brodie catalogs mention 23.2" TT for 19" frame but I see a 1/2" less on the tape measure.

My Zaskar TT is over 23" but I still enjoy the ride, a bit long but no biggie.

For me bike fit is all about TT and stem choice. I'll be keeping this one, it feels perfect when ridden 😁

Did you measure effective top tube, parallel to ground? Dropped top tube geo measures size as center of bb to top of seat tube. Otoh if you are happy w the bike just ride it and forget everything else.

I did, took a bit more care than normally as well, on a level floor surface I marked a spot on the centre line of the seatpost using a builders level (that's where perfect horizontal ended up) that is level with the top centre of the head tube, double/triple checked and found roughly 22.75"

Gives me peace of mind as well as I'm only on my second day owning. Pretty much on par with the rest of my sable regarding TT lenghts, give or take, 1/4" longer than average but the round the block road test this morning before committing to tear down and rebuild really sealed it for me, feels perfect

Ride a vintage bike w/22.2 or 22.4 top tube and 120/130 stem. Maybe a Brodie w/ those numbers... Ride it on a technical, steep trail ;) and then tell me what you think.

What a great find! That paint sure does look like it pops, even in the photos. Look forward to seeing this completed along with some outing shots of it alongside other Brodie siblings. 😎

Looks like it'll be a joy to ride even if it is a 19"! ;) If the reach/setup is fine, then no worries, just pedal the thing and enjoy.

What bike is next on your list?!* 😜

Thanks @27motorhead I'll definitely post updates as I move along and take snap shots with some siblings out in the wild

Yes, can't wait to get it back out pedaling, it's coming apart now

I definitely will never add another bike to the stable, but if I did.. would be a titanium

Wow! Another stunner to add to the collection, looking forward to seeing how it turns out? Going on your previous work I’m sure it will be perfect. Really like the colour 👍.
