1987 Brodie ROMAX.... Update!!!... well... Minor Update

Re: 1987 Brodie ROMAX.... Welcome to club Romax... ooooh yeeaaaa

The hole is where the front brake cable housing goes in (the bigger one) and the smaller is where the cable come out. Works with old style cantilevers, not v brakes. Very clean.

sooo... update... got her taken down to the bare frame...

Was able to get everything apart at ease except the bb... man.. oh man.... the drive side is in there good! it's a 68 so drive side is reversed... this i know incase anyone points it out :D

I loaded up the seat tube with anti-cease and it's now laying on it's side in hopes that it will be somewhat freed up tomorrow... :? If all else fails it will go down to the mechanics for him to get it out...

Don't mind that bin of old crummy forks... ;)

So... here's the spot I'm at...

as I stated earlier, both my avalanche and the Romax have simmilar geometry... the avalanche came with a 26.8 which was loose in the top but snug below the junction... I have a 27.0 in there now that's snug in the top but very snug below the junction... but it should work

in the romax it's the same but with a 27.2 -27.0

Were these frames just supposed to be looser above the junction??? any suggestions?

I emailed Paul Brodie... hopefully he will have some advice...

Here's the rear U brake brace

I thought all the brodie braces had "brodie" engraved in them? this must have been an early one before he started having them engraved?

I might be putting a roller-cam on the rear... will this work with a rollercam?

Re:

I have two Brodie u-brake boosters and neither of them have any kind of engraving on them. As for fitting one to a rollercam, I don't see any reason why not........

Re: 1987 Brodie ROMAX.... Welcome to club Romax... ooooh yeeaaaa

Oooooo Very nice! A drilled out one would be really cool =)

I used to hate anything with a U-Brake... one of the dumbest things I ever did was pass on a Thunderbolt for $500 because it had a rear U-Brake....

Now I have really taken a fancy to U-Brake mounts.

I'm not too much a fan of actual U-brakes, but Roller cam... Now you are talking!

I think a brodie with upper rear U-brake bosses would be super cool!

Re:

Yours is the correct one for the year of your bike though. Plenty of Brodies with seat stay u-brakes - just ask Roy
