1987 When Shimano introduced index shifting with Hyperglide. Suntour never did recover from that blow to the head. Their shifting was never as crisp as Shimanos. Suntour tried some stuff like the Browning system and Micro Drive (which Shimano promptly copied) but just never seemed to catch back up. The first gen Rapid Fire wasn't the greatest shifting system (which is why some companies still used thumb shifters 3 years after RF was introduced) but it beat the hell out of X-press shifters. It was always better to have drive train choices so it was disappointing when Suntour died........I guess we have SRAM now to challenge the big "S".

thanks jeff love suntour at this time- don't suppose you have 86 and 87 cat too?

Possibly. I have been scanning stuff as time allows. There is way more stuff than time though!

nice one- have a look out for some spare suntour xc beartrap pedals too whilst your looking- been scouring the globe with no success
