Here's another one from the stable. It came in trade for another Ibis custom I got that was a bit too big ... this one is a bit to small for me, but a real nice example of an early Scot Nicol custom Ibis.

Here it is in its original setup the previous owner had one it. I got it as a frameset.

There was a brief flirtation with a dirt drip, but that OG stem was just so pretty on it.

And my version of it. Very aggressive setup for c1985. I have a rear Cunningham/Nicol Hi E hub and front I will 'do a copy on to finish it off, but its quite nice as is.

Lovely build Jim. Looks ahead of it's time for '85

Agreed re. "ahead of its time." Minus the swept back bars, saddle and a few other other markers it could easily be 5-6 years younger. Even the paint looks like a precursor to blue ano (but much, much nicer).

absolutely stunning :)

I'd be keen to see a pic of bike on small - small and large - large chainring/ freewheel combo to see what that mech looks like at full capacity. I have a road one I'm thinking of using on one of my Suntour builds......

Great looking build Jim. Love that colour too,

One of the finest Ibis i‘ve seen. Amazing colour.
Just plane beautiful.
Cheers Kay
