I built up my 1980 Raleigh Record Ace this week. I do not believe this bike was sold in the US which is where I live. The bike has the sticker from the shop in Bury St. Edmonds where it was originally sold. The wheels, brakes, and headset are original. Although the frame is very nice (Reynolds 531 double butted), the original steel headset, Weinmann 605 brakes, and what look to be cheap Weinmann rims laced to Normandy luxe competition hubs are serviceable but not particularly high end. I have the fenders the bike came with but decided not to install them. The derailleurs, pedals, crank, saddle, stem, and handlebar are not original. I kept the build simple with downtube shifters, toe clips and straps, and 3 x 6 shifting (50/38/28 rings, 13-28 6 speed freewheel). This is a very nice handling, long-distance machines. I have the 1982 RRA catalog page but I haven't found the one from 1980.
