1978 bike idenity

Seat stay cluster don't look English, nice looking frame though pound to a penny the width of the BB shell is 70mm...

I would guess that rules it out as not uk made ?

This thread has a good mention of the fork reinforcements on your bike. Richard Sachs used them but they may have been copied or sold on by him.

I have spent a couple of hours this morning, hopefully to good use
I suspect the bike is a witcomb USA built by sachs / weigle
The forks and fastback seat cluster look right, the serial number is correct but I'm not sure of it's location being correct
A further clue from Argos is the 'red and white 'written on the stem..
That links to sachs i would guess correct decals where not available at the time of repaint
Any comments or suggestions are very welcome as I'm still not 100% on this

The 'playing card' fork tangs were frequently used by many bulders in the UK and were still available until quite recently from Ceeway. I had a Dave Russell bought from the Chalvey shop c.1975 with the very 'chunky' tops to the seat stays.
