Someone had made quite a mess of the clamp around the post in a previous attempt to remove it, so I've gone with the very lazy approach of:
1. Email Dave Yates (they've been really helpful so far)
2. Strip down frame and send to him to remove post and full respray.
3. Spend my spare time scouring ebay and retro bike forum for nice parts to build it up

This does feel a bit like a cop out but at least I'll get a nice fresh frame!

Should I get a disc mount added at the same time? I'm leaning towards no.

That's not the lazy approach - obviously I'm biased because I know the frame (although I didn't know about the damage) but I'd say it's well worth treating it to a full refurb and respray. If I had it, I think that's exactly what I'd do with it!

I had sucess with a very stuck seatpost recently. It was carbon that had stuck in titanium by expanding after someone sprayed oil in there to try to loosen it after it had already partialy stuck. I used two ratchet tie down straps. One around the seatpost the other around the frame. loop one tie down around a tree the other tie around another tree. I wore a motorbike helmet just in case anything snapped. I would use that method every time from now on as long as I felt the frame cound take the stress without bending.
