16.5" 1998 Trek 8000 SL - £200 *BUMPED TO £150* SOLD: £170

Hi guys, having done a grand total of 65 miles from new in 1998, my £1,000 Trek 8000 SL has to go. It's had a service recently and is basically pristine.

The full spec is here:

Including: aluminium frame, Rock Shox Judy T2, Deore LX V-brakes with Avid SD-1.9 L levers, LX shifters, Deore XT front and rear mech, Deore LX crankset, plus ICON bars, seat post, stem and 'Fatty' bar-ends that still look great.

I also added a couple of upgrades when I bought it - including the XT front mech and LX SPDs.

Hello. The 16.5" is that to the top of the seat tube? And does it have 1"1/8 headset?

actually, scratch that! Sorry, just checked and in fact it's 16.5" directly along the seat tube - i.e. from the top, to the mid-point of the bottom bracket.

Hi there, I'm 5"7 and obviously it's spot-on for me, but anything from 5"4 to 5"10 would be fine. The saddle has plenty of space to go up or down and the top tube itself is pretty low.

How much does the bike weigh? I can't see it in the stuff you've linked to but I may just have missed it.. :roll:

Out of interest, I see you're selling to get another bike. What bike are you looking to replace it with and why?

Hi there, good height! And good to know you're close by (am in Dorking btw).

You're right, the weight's not there. I tried to find a published weight so I could show off just how light it is - I was really obsessive about it when I bought the bike! - but no joy. But from memory, I'm 95% sure it was 23lbs (hence the £1k price-tag).

I'm looking at a hybrid, more suitable for the roads - hopefully a Whyte if I can afford it.
