120mm fork on a 1997/8 King Kahuna - is it safe?

But a Zaskar is Aluminum right?

Yes mate. But likely stronger than a KK
I’d say.

They were kinda the go to hardtail for anything pre jump bike / trials

Why not reduce the travel down to 100mm on the fork you want to use. I’m sure it’ll be possible with a shorter shaft.

have you looked at the catalogue in the archive?
Yep 100mm bomber

Surely a Ti frame is stronger than an Alloy one and with the gussets?

But yes reducing travel is probably the most sensible option as I do really want the Fox over the SID’s as I find the SIDS too flexy and only 80mm travel!

Ti is pretty fragile. I’ve had a higher percentage of cracked Ti frames than alloy.

How about a 99/2000 era SID. Would be ideal

Buuuuuuut, the main thing is the axle-crown measurement. There is a chart floating around on the web for 90s / 00s forks.

This weekend I compared long travel Judy to a modern Suntour XCM 80mm travel fork and the a-c was 50mm longer on the Suntour!

The Suntour was awful, but I ended up rebuilding it as the Judy would have just been too short.

If the fork is 20% longer, you just need to hit things 20% softer.😉

As for a-c you can usually go 20mm up or down without a problem
