Anyone recognise this?

It's a titanium 130mm stem, the clamp is machined from solid rather than the usual split tube style clamp, the finish is dark grey rather than polished or brushed.

Any help in identifying it would be greatly appreciated! :D

Thanks!

Sorry i dont recognize it,but then i dont know much about Ti stuff, Sorry.

However if you want to part company with it ;)

Did it come with a frame? Or a bike? if so then may be it's the same brand as the frame that it came with just an idea

Is it on its side in the pic? The machined end is the steerer tube clamp right? Looks that way to me. :?

Ditto, end facing us is the steerer tube end, split tube clamp is for the bars.

It does not really look like Ti from the image. It's not typical to machine Ti parts out of huge chunks like that clamp. I would like to see the other end. If it was Ti, made like that it would be 40% heavier than an aluminum stem. Is it heavy ?

If it is truly Ti, it would either be a prototype or something from China or Russia. That clamp would make this a very expensive part.

In my humble opinion.

Hi Guys, thanks for your posts, the stem is definitely Ti, wall thickness is too thin for aluminium (1.5mm) and it's non magnetic. The finish would be from glass bead blasting or similar to give a uniform appearance to the part. CNC machining of titanium is not too difficult with decent cutting tools & slow feeds & speeds.

Weight is 159g and it feels heavier towards the CNC clamp end.

It's been knocking around the cabinet for years. Here's some more pics, I hope someone somewhere recognises it!

For the clamp on the steerer… I would say "Morati"…

Taiwan

according to me it's an ACOR = one of many brandnames used by the same company operating out of Taiwan

here is there curent Ti product line - they're still using the same clamping part for the fork side of things ...

http://www.acorsports.com/products.php?i_category=51

the Morati ones where quite a bit different in the clamping design and had more even and smaler welds

regards

Martin
