I got a little side-tracked over the weekend with festive preparations, so didn't get quite as much done as I'd hoped.
Started to fill and sculpt the join between the arch and the lower tubes...
...and got the first load of primer on.
There's still some more bits to stick around the dropouts, and the cantilever and disc tabs to add. Other than that I think we may be at the prime, polish, repeat stage to get the surface up to standard.
Using the aforementioned holes in the fork jig located the tabs is a piece of cake.
There's a sort of gusset reinforcement thing in the casting around the disc mount. It's subtle, but quite a nice feature. I've cut a pattern out of thin styrene and heat bent it around a scrap of brass tube.
This then sits around the tabs and a bit of sanding and filling will blend it in.
A quick blast of primer to show up where more fettling is required, and leave it to dry until lunchtime.
Right then, that's all of the solid bits done for the fork lowers. I've added the bracing around the dropouts and the cantilever tabs. Now all that's left is entirely filler/primer/abrasives-based.
Not sure what to tackle next.
Possibly brakes because it might be nice to make something that isn't round.
Possibly get the paint pots out and finish the forks. Normally I'd wait until most bits were in primer before dipping anything in colour, but it might feel good to have something finished.
Possibly hubs, with a view to building the wheels over the Christmas holidays, but not 100% decided on what hubs to spec. The Yeti was much more straightforward because it was just a straight replica. This is a bit more vague in terms of build choices. My P20 had an ever-changing spec on account of a combination of staff discount in a bike shop and few life responsibilities.
