I’m not sure how much time the seller spent “refurbishing” this chainset, but I think I could have done a better job of “refurbishing” it if I leaned it against a fire hydrant and let my dog “refurbish” it for me while doing his business…

…and I don’t even have a dog, so I’d have to do it myself, and that’s not exactly a conversation that I’m looking forward to having with a policeman or a judge.

Me: “But, your honor, I was merely “refurbishing” that chainset. There’s no law against that, is there?

Judge: “There is the way YOU did it”

:D I've had more than one bike brought to me after a "owner service" has been completed.

They're usually lucky if they can get away with a complete re-cabling, new chain and freewheel.
Had one guy who'd adjusted his sons front and rear mechs with a hammer and a pair of pliers.

I've just refurbished my rear mech, looks good doesn't it 😁

You're looking at this all wrong lads 'Seller refurbished' simply means they've had a bit of botox, probably a spray tan, visited the hipster barber and shoehorned themselves into skinny jeans..

I was adjusting my my sons front mech with pliers and a thick screw driver to bend adjust the cage.

It was a bit dark*, but I was remodeling it since its only job is as a chain guide for the single front ring and the cage now has a more useful shape...

*I did remember a bit later that that was a NOS DX top pull front mech I had put on for a short time until I found an older one in my box, but the box had stuff on it at the time and this mech was on the bench...

I could clean it up and still class it as NOS given some of the adverts I see for NOS, couldn't I? ;-)

It looks like my dog had a hand in this one also.
If this is your way of registering a complaint, I can't help you.
Maybe this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't left your rear mech outside for my dog to find.
There are no teeth marks that I can see, so consider yourself lucky.
...and don't anger my dog or he'll leave a flaming bag of poop at your doorstep (although he needs me to actually ring the doorbell for him)
😇

Or refurbished in a cellar? A dark one. With an angle grinder. By a blind man. With one arm. And no thumb.
