Raleigh SB7162 - Frameset to be resurrected -Team Panasonc

Re: Been a slow week (or two). Finally managed to get the lacquer on and started rebuilding it yesterday. Annoyingly, progress has stalled. I forgot I needed a braze on FD, and I need a BB wrench for Hollowtech 2. I can get round the BB problem using a car oil filter chain wrench, and...

Yes, but I'm not cold setting the frame. I took out the wide spacer on the NDS, and had 4mm taken off it at work. I might have to play around with the chain line, or even sacrifice the use of the smallest sprocket, but it fits Thanks, it is, but not quite as perfect as it might seem. The...

Re: Re: I did remove the badge, but not the cups. Something I'm starting to regret a little. :? Anyway, having seen Maca's awesome paint work, I was feeling under pressure to get on with mine :D Decals were put on after a misting the frame with water, so I'll give it a week beside the...

1985 Raleigh 531c Panasonic (Best in Show Eroica)

Re: Superb work, paint looks immaculate, Wish I'd got mine painted, but it would have needed a bit more money than I can afford, so decals and rattle cans had to get the job done. Just don't stand yours next to mine please

Re: Aah..... I thought it might be chain related, as it's in the chain line, but couldn't figure out why a chain would be right up there

Re: I've been painting :) Two coats of primer on both frame and fork, one coat of white on the frame and two blue on the forks. Forks have 753 decal in place and are ready for laquering. One thing I can't figure out, what is this braze-on for - drive side seat stay?

1985 Raleigh 531c Panasonic (Best in Show Eroica)

Re: 1985 Raleigh 531c Panasonic (small update 17th April) Well, you've set the bar ridiculously high for my build. It's going to look really nice when done (where's the "thumb up" smiley when you need it) As I'm going to be building mine with a Sora/Tiagra STI mix, I'm tempted to go for a non...

Re: Raleigh SB7162 - Frameset to be resurrected In for blasting the frame today. Tried the nut blaster as it's a more gentle blast media. Unfortunately, it only took off the Humbrol. At least it confirms the Panasonic replica thoughts So, into the shot blaster it went, revealing a Cinelli...

Raleigh SB7162 - Frameset to be resurrected -Team Panasonc

Re: I've had some paint stripper on it this afternoon, and it is a Panasonic replica underneath the Humbrol. Can't yet confirm whether it is 531 or 753, as the stripper seems to have cut right through the sticker colouring. :( Suppose I'll wait till it's blasted, then weigh it for...

Raleigh SB7162 - Frameset to be resurrected -Team Panasonc

Hi, first post after a lot of browsing/lurking. I bring you this Raleigh SBDU frameset, frame #SB7162. It looks a bit sorry for itself at the moment, having been smothered in Humbrol blue brush paint, but seems straight and undamaged, just needs a little TLC In all it's glory Frame number...
