Raleigh SB7162 - Frameset to be resurrected -Team Panasonc

Looking really good Andy, wish I had found a 753 one in my size. Are you doing the Erioca this year ?

Re:

I don't think my bike will be eligible, I'll be using modern STI's etc in the build.
Might have a run down in the car if I can

Are you planning on fitting a 130mm OLD rear wheel? Cus I've heard its a no no with 753.
Yes, but I'm not cold setting the frame. I took out the wide spacer on the NDS, and had 4mm taken off it at work. I might have to play around with the chain line, or even sacrifice the use of the smallest sprocket, but it fits

This is a 'rattle can' spray job?

Wow...
Thanks, it is, but not quite as perfect as it might seem. The masking around the seat tube lug could have been better, and I have to say - the decals made a whole world of difference to a plain white frame. I think the prep work put in to it has paid off though, blasted to bare metal and rubbed down between every coat of primer and paint

Does reducing the spacer work, isn't the wheel now offset to the left?

Very interested in any progress because I want to run 10 speed on my 753 frameset but very few people seem to have done it.
I think I've done it on my 531Pro frameset because 531Pro is supposed to be 753 rear stays but I just persuaded the wider wheel into the smaller gap.

Looks superb by the way.

Andy64 did you use a pearlescent white?

Bedraggled, dont you go snapping the dropouts on the orange beastie, I'll never forgive you ;)

Re:

Been a slow week (or two). Finally managed to get the lacquer on and started rebuilding it yesterday.
Annoyingly, progress has stalled. I forgot I needed a braze on FD, and I need a BB wrench for Hollowtech 2.
I can get round the BB problem using a car oil filter chain wrench, and something to protect the BB. The FD will have to be ordered :(

So, I now have the following fitted.
Headset bearings, forks, stem adapter, bars, shifters, brake cables and calipers, gear cables - as far as the downtube, BB and rear derailleur.

Need to do:
Bar tape, front derailleur, crank set, finish gear cables, wheels and saddle

Bedraggled: Haven't been able to fit the wheels to check the chain line as yet. It fits the frame perfectly, but I need everything else in place to see what tweaking needs doing

omegastrada: It's not pearlescent, more a creamy off white colour
