Mystery handmade lightweight - W.P. Newton?

Re: Hi, very nice frame, well bought. It does appear to have all the early No 1 Ephgrave curves and swirls in all the right places, and I would place it very early fifties but we are now going into a big grey area, was it a homage ( W P Newton did do framebuilding I believe ) or was it an...

Gerrard, Don Louis, Braysher, Dave Davey??

Re: Hi, some assistance, not an answer. It can't be a Don Louis ( wrong serial format and should be on BB), I've never seen a Hurlow with this fork crown, and I can't really see it being a Hurlow build but !!! The key to this may be the fork crown, it is not a standard choice so concentrate on...

RBotYear!!! Poll Up - All the 2020 Winners! Vote now!!!

Re: Hi all, I can't believe that, thanks to who ever voted for us, I saw it had been included but ! I have used it a couple of times last year, one was a 30/35 miler and it is a lovely ride, and once you get going with it, it has a fair piece of pace, stopping is the issue, it has to be...

    Sunbeam 26 frame number

Re: Hi, welcome to the forum, it looks like a Sunbeam from the mid thirties/ forties, when Sunbeam was moving in between different owners. There may be catalogues somewhere on the interweb that will assist, but I suspect it is mid thirties and not from the classic 'Marston' era. I hope this...

Seeking 19th-Early 20th Century American Race & Road Bikes

Hi Brant, might be worth joining the Veteran Cycle Club and putting a wanted ad in the News & Views, I believe there are early american racer/track bikes here in the UK ( all with collectors I should imagine ), I can recall seeing an early Tribune racer at a cycle jumble a couple of years ago...

Any 19th-Early 20th Collectors on Here??

Re: Hi, that is nice, I think most people here appreciate history and an attractive bike regardless of age, so thanks for showing it. It is the original travel box that steals the screen, wow, how rare is that - museum stuff indeed. Thanks Terry.

    Couple of oldies.

Re: Hi, they are a lovely couple of old French bikes, good to see them on view, being used and being looked after, they are generally very comfortable to ride, and they do have a style about them, I can never resist one when the right offer comes up, you can view a few of mine at...

    1930's Holdsworth Stelvio Frame?

Re: Hi, just throwing a couple of points into the mix, at a guess the angles look mid to late 30's, and that serial number would place the Holdsworth in the early 30's, when the market and frame fittings ( angles ) were very static due to the depression. I've attached an early Holdsworth I had...

    Mistery bikeq

Re: Hi, the holes are probably for an oiler, or more likely a grease nipple, and just guessing with the cable guides, the front derailleur guide looks 60/70's, so there has been some mods, usually in the 50's there are two cable stops to hold/guide a stiff outer cable through the BB turn on the...

    Mistery bikeq

Re: Hi, it must be mid 50's, the nervex lugs point to this, so 53 -56 is the best I can do, you need a reference point ( dated receipt ) to work it out, and there's not many Bertrands left. By the way I think that spear seals it, he did like spear like lugs. Enjoy; Thanks Terry

    Mistery bikeq

Re: Hi, I've attached a photo of a bertrand BB with serial number I was tempted to buy a few years ago, looks thereabouts, included a piccie of the seat lug, I hope this helps. Thanks Terry

    Mistery bikeq

Re: Hi, one question, why isn't it a Bertrand ? It is an early/mid fifties frame, Bertrands didn't have a head badge, I have seen that seat stay end on a Bertrand before, is there a serial number on the underside of the BB ? Thanks Terry

BAGGI "CHAMPION OLYMPIQUE ET DU MONDE" 1935/36

Re: Hi, lovely bike, clean and grease the moving parts, that's all I would do with it. I think they are Oscar Egg lugs from the thirties, a similar bike can be found at https://www.speedbicycles.ch/velo/146/i ... _1937.html Thanks Terry

    An Intervention....long overdue

Re: Hi, if it helps I have at least twice your issue, but I'm hoping for a controlled release to supplement my pension when I retire in a couple of years, so there's method in the madness, but that said, I have a number of times over the last years said that's enough, but cycle jumbles and...

Help with Dyna-tech frame ID/rough age, please...??

Re: Hi, they are a nice bike I've had one but not desirable I'm afraid, bicycle collecting is such a fickle thing. It looks like you have a 1991/2 Dynatech 600, the 700 was a brighter pink if I remember correctly, judging from the 'Dynatech' decal on the down tube probably 1992. The serial...

Can any one help me identify this Holdsworth?

Re: Hi, that bottom bracket ( not Chater Lea ) and another look at the geometry would point me to post war, maybe an outside chance of very late thirties, I would check that steerer it will be your only way of confirming what the serial number is. Thanks Terry

Can any one help me identify this Holdsworth?

Re: Hi, a serial number would be good, generally they are on the underside of the bottom bracket, pre war Holdsworths can have it on the seat lug but it should be on the steerer at least. Nice Frame. Thanks Terry

    Maclean's Featherweight - Mid 40s

Re: Hi, nice catch, date looks spot on, those rear stay brazons may be for a custom rack, the ends of which slot in, that would leave the mudguard eye for, strangely enough the mudguards, will we see it built up this winter ? Thanks Terry
