    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Nervex Legere pattern 45 lugs appear to have been used on CB Coureur in first couple Holdsworthy years before switching to more common and later Legere 48 version. See prior post #85.

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Re: @Tabbyiab's CB Classique 2742 and dating to c.1963 in Holdsworthy 4D prediction system : - Not seeing an oiler on bottom of BB suggests to me that 2742 has an oiler on top of BB? This points to a build prior to 1965 as this oiler postion change is a consistent finding with Holdworthy frames...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

I agree with Dave, looks like a 1963 Classique with a 4D Holdworth number similar to increasing number of Classique frames in data base that have similar Holdsworth serials . Somewhat of a guess, but likely built at Holdworthy factory to Classique specs - thus explaining Holdsworth 4D serial.

Symbol stamped on bottom bracket shell

Looks to me that's not just a C it is a C followed by a B signifying Claud Butler. Commonly seen on early Holdsworthy Clauds. Here's another example of a 1961Claud Coureur with letters CB near serial (from Dave's database):

    1951 Holdsworth Sirocco Track?

Marine06 Any chance you could tell us what serial is? Number should date the frame. Should be on BB. The Sirroco road model with these lugs was only advertised in catalogue for 1951. The same lugs were used on what was renamed the Whirlwind in 1952 and changed the following year. Legend has...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

billkilpatrick, Peachy! I believe those are Nervex Legere pattern 45 lugs that were used on CB Coureur in first couple Holdsworthy years before switching to more common and later Legere 48 version for Coureur. http://www.classicrendezvous.com/France/parts/Nervex/nervex_legere_series.htm The...

    Claud Butler Classique

Parpete, Your frame serial number 1135 does not appear to fit in usual Holdsworthy Claud Butler serial system started in1959 as it would predict to1959 when we know the Classique did not appear in catalogue until 1962 . I suspect what is going on here is that this frame is stamped as some...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

FalconSS and Peachy! Frame features with original looking paint and decals certainly must be a Classique which according to catalogue lasted from 62 to 68 inc. No big distinguishing frame features other than paint and kit. There were a lot of CB frames like this built with Prugnat 62S lugs...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Agree, number predicts to 1948. That would be a bronze welded LaQuelda model. Thinking is that the H below serial indicates Bill Hurlow was the builder. He was with Holdsworth during this time. See: http://nkilgariff.com/HoldsModelPages/LaQuelda.htm

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Looks like the Holdsworthy 4D custom/branded numbering prediction of 1970 up until 1976 factory move has been revised since last time I looked at data - maybe a year ago? The prior prediction would have had your frame #4615 as being built in 1975. The previous high frame number on Excel was...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Undoubtedly a 1982 model year - the apparent first year for Holdsworth catalogue listing of the Avanti model. Seemingly next year's models often started factory production as early as middle of year before. So... quite conceivable #039295 was a "1982" Avanti actually built in December of 1981...

    Dating a Holdsworth Super Mistral

More accurately number 010392 predicts this Holdsworth Mistral to an Oakfield Road production date of early 1978. In the later 70's the Mistral no longer came in a Super model with its fully sloping Italian style fork crown, reinforced rear brake bridge, bushed brake hole as well as fast back...

    Dating a Holdsworth Super Mistral

I’m quite sure I see a 0 before 10392 making number 010392. The serial system beginning with 0 commenced at time of move to larger factory in 1976. Dave Scrimshaw’s prediction dates your Mistral to 1978,

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

rbxmy, Looks like this Mstral frame dates within present prediction to a mid 1981 build date. Assuming accurate would mean that lay in stock until mid 1982, as often was the case. Do you remember if John Atkins Cycles had the frame in their stock at time of purchase or was it ordered from...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

According to Kilgariff by 1959 it seems only Reynolds 531 was being used by Holdsworthy. So unless there is an identification mark for A&P somewhere I think the Coureur would have been plain gauge 531. (a 26.4mm seat post would point to plain 531 versus DB) Quote from Kilgariff Holdsworth...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Here's head tube pics of Claud #3224 which certainly appears to be in original paint and badge. This is one of frames referenced in my prior post and also is a 1959 Claud with Nervex Legere lugs pattern 86bis/158. Link scavenged from Dave's database: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=102 ...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Tarbyarmy and Peachy, I'd say frame # 2733 is likely a 1959 Coureur. The lugs appear to me to be the pattern of Nervex Legere lugs (head tube 86bis/158) that were used for Holdsworthy/Claud Coureur at start up in 1959. The seat cluster and BB lugs also appear to be pattern 158. The Coureur is...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Duh!!! Guess I wasn't much different re serial number recording. I state 56672 in my message but did read correctly from pic as 26672 which I used with prdeiction. So yes... c. 1966 still stands.

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

09woodh Using serial prediction on first page of this thread, #26672 predicts to early 1966. Considering 1966 CB frame features, the simple Prugnat lugs point to either a Spectra, Electron Super 5 or Coureur. (They were essentially identical frames with only distiguishing features being paint...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

I think that pic of vertically stacked numbers cinches it. Frame #69242 must be a c.1970 Putney shop "Holdsworth" and built by Reg Collard. The Putney shop at that time had it's own numbering system. From 1965 the first two digits identified year of build. For some reason from year 1969 until...
