    Mystery CX gravel thing

Re: When it came back from painting, it look a bit bare, so I had those stickers made up. The Fonzarelli thing is really just an in joke there to make one other person laugh, but it does sort of sound like a classic Italian maker. Check out the head badge I made to go with it.

    Mystery CX gravel thing

I haven't been on here for a while, but I've just finished building this thing that I thought you might be interested in. When I got it is was rattle-caned blue, with overspray in a lot over the bits, but was clearly a nice thing. Good quality bits and the frame is nicely finished. The frame...

    Which Raleigh is this?

I'm kind of intrigued by this. When did the merger take place? I've always fancied a Special Products frame, it'd be lovely if I could claim that my Randonneur qualified. I have no idea if this is the reason for the change, but the spokes in my drive-side holder are absolutely pristine after...

    Which Raleigh is this?

My understanding is shaky on this, so I'm happy to be told I'm wrong. But: I think there was the Lightweight Unit between the normal factory and the Special Products bat cave. The lightweights made the nice production stuff, and Special Products was more or less all custom work. SP frames...

    Which Raleigh is this?

I should have checked before I posted. It looks like your's could be one of the later Blue 708 frames have a look at the photos at the bottom of this page... http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7775&sid=fcd544bb13ee2511f258f2e6dbdfe1c3&start=30 Its an interesting thread by the way.[/url]

    Which Raleigh is this?

It doesn't look quite like my Randonneur. The spoke holders are on the other chainstay, the chainstay bridge is different, and the slugs in the top of my seatstays are embossed Raleigh. Other bits look right though, the pump peg on the head tube, double eyes for mudguards and racks the same...

If you like the tape you should keep it. The world is full of stylish Italian iron and elegant Gazelles done with perfect taste. If you keep the tape your bike would be a nice change from all that. :P

Mine aren't rando bars either, although they do have a slight flare that I see more the more I look at them. The one thing you're missing is the rather nice Brooks Professional that has become a favorite of mine (when it's not squeaking).

That sounds right. Mine has Module 4 rims on 105 hubs, Deore crank and mechs, 105 levers (brake and gears) and SR bars, stem and post. Of course, all those bits can be swapped about easily, but if they are there it is a pretty big clue. Looking forward to seeing it all cleaned up. I Think...

    Tour of Britain

I'm toying with the idea of riding down from Yorkshire to Gun Hill for Tuesday. It's a bit of a schlep for my little legs, so only if the weather looks friendly. Otherwise it'll be the highlights on ITV4.

Here are some pics of a rather grubby Randonneur. I had intended to give it a proper clean, go for a ride and take some pretty photos. But the weather here is vile, so I just snapped some quickies in the cemetery while out running an errand. The dropout and chainstay, note the spoke...

I'm new here, so I hope no one minds if I just dive in. I looks a lot like my Randonneur. The front rack mounts are right, the braze ons are right, and the geometry looks about right. It even has the SR seatpost. Does it have spoke holders on the chainstay? If you like I can take some...
