    Colnago Master Olympic- info please?

Congratulations, you have done a nice build. I've always been a Shimano fan and the 7410 is one of my favourite groupsets and it takes it's place on the bike. I noticed you have gone for the old style pedal which is interesting. Did you manage to get the frame touched up? Was it a full...

    Achtung Spitfire!

They do evoke the old emotions. The film Battle of Britain is one of my favorite films and i'm holding back the emotions every time i watch it. It's not as if i was there as i'm only in my 30's. LOL :D

Best road descent in the UK

Sutton Bank, North Yorkshire, a great decent and a great climb 1:4. Its just under the ton getting there and back from where i live, so i end up having to peddle around the town to get the 100 miles. There is a tricky corner half way down and if you don't get it right you will end up...

    Helpful Hints for Happy Cycling

Helpful hint... If you're an experienced cyclist and you know what you are doing... then go for it! When cycling you will see.... the little boy racer, who is a cock, and the girlfriend who will be giving you a look and the granny, in the other car, that's been married for the last 40 years...

    Achtung Spitfire!

Battle of Britain and the film outstanding. Said in German in the film and was said at the time. "Give me a squadron of Spitfires" Said to the fat bloke in the white uniform can't remember his name from the top of my head. The MK9 was the top dog when it went in to service, i think in 44, and...

What period bars? late 90s build

Cinelli would be the first choice for me, 64-42, you have the stem you might as well have the bars! Nitto made some good bars nice and shiny, so they could be an option for you? If you have difficulties finding those then you could contact Brick Lane Bikes or Condor Bikes they sell...

Found a Colnago at the junkyard, is it worth anything?

Outrageous! How lucky are you! The previous owner must of p***ed the wife off and gone through a nasty divorce for it to end up in a scrapyard! Take it to a local bike restorer it will be worth the investment or sell it to someone who will if you're not in to cycling! Wish something like that...

Colnago Classic- Columbus Zona tubing- Help please

Looking at the bike you would never guess it was an entry level frame such is the quality! Yes, i'm afraid the Gilco Technos/Master are very difficult to find now unless you would like to buy new from Colnago, you will need a cool £1700+ There's a guy in the forum who appears to be from...

Colnago Classic- Columbus Zona tubing- Help please

Lovely looking Colnago you have there! The steel tubing from Colnago will be as good as it gets. My tubing is Gilco and the frame was bought in 97. I think i'm right in saying that the tubing you have may be an improvement on that? Either way the tubing will be high quality so don't get to hung...

other good places to buy road parts

Condor bikes in London. Always had a pleasent experience buying from them and i would recommend. If they don't have what you are looking for on their web site then they are worth a phone call and ask if they might have the component you are looking for in their warehouse! I got lucky when i...

Bar tape, what to do with the silly finishing tape supplied?

I've mainly used white bar tape over the years and i put white electrical tape on first to secure the bar tape and then i put the bit of bar tape, from the maker, on top of that. Works every time and i've never had any probs.

    Rider weight concerns.......

Hi. keep a close check on the frame once a week or so. Look for obvious signs of stress, fatigue, and if you have concerns after a while take it to your local bike shop and get some professional advice. The wheels you seem to already have but i would suggest a traditional 36 spoke wheel...
