1997 GT RTS All Terra Mountain Bike Advice on Bearings and Handlebars/Accessories Due to Hand Pain

If it is a Taiwan-made frame the serial number will start with an H, as they were made at the Hodaka factory. I think any US made ones might be numerical only, but I only recently started adding aluminium numbers to my spreadsheet, so I don't have any US RTS numbers recorded yet.

Help with identifying a GT serial.

I think the reply you got from GT is suggesting that the serial shows: RZ - factory where it was made 01 - made 2001 10 - made in October I don't know much about GTs after the mid 90s, but if it was pre-1998 I would expect an SAS serial and I think that then just switched to an S for a couple...

    Short rear MTB mudguard recommendations?

I've had this one on a wanted list for a long time, then saw it on sale (front is on the way): Anyone with experience of these Mucky Nutz guards? You can keep the short version on the bike, then clip in the longer extension for wetter conditions. Comes with it's own 90s friendly bag too.

Help with identifying a GT serial.

Here we go, someone else with an RZ serial number: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/help-identifying-gt-mtb-please.91672/post-669458 Unfortunately, they did not mention what year their Aggressor was.

Help with identifying a GT serial.

Sorry, that was confusing. By younger I meant later - so maybe 1999-2000? The Zaskars were made in the USA, hence they have a different numbering system. That you just be 8 numbers with the first two giving the year of production and the second two giving the month of production. The Asian...

Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

Yep, but the "improvements" meant significantly increasing the wheelbase through a longer rear triangle. I prefer the original shorter version. I've not seen any of the later models to see if the brazing is as nice. I sadly sold mine at Sheffield Bike Jumble when I was rationalising before...

Help with identifying a GT serial.

That's a lot of numbers! None of the formats look that familar to me, which I would guess means it might be at least a year or two younger, when they were using more different factories. I would expect a '97 to have a serial starting SAS#X####

Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

I had an MCL Micro (beautiful UK made frame) with a similar tendency toward wheelies thanks to the short wheelbase. The turning was also very .... responsive. Fun to ride, but you had to stay attentive.

Dragging myself back to riding not just hoarding bikes and getting fat....

Any nearby Retrobikers or other cycling friends? Once you get out the routine of going out riding it can be hard to get back into it, but the commitment of going with someone else is often helpful.
